- Summary
- It is the year 10191. Arrakis is a desert planet, which contains the only source of the spice 'Melange,' which is necessary for space travel. Two rival families, the Atreides and the Harkonnens, fight to control of the mining operations. When Duke Leto Atreides is assassinated by the evil Baron Harkonnen, his son Paul and Leto's wife, Lady Jessica, flee deep into the desert and are befriended by natives of Arrakis. Paul learns that he has special powers and can see into the future. Paul unites the natives and forms a army of warriors, leading them into battle against Baron Harkonnen and the corrupt Emperor Padishah Shaddam IV
