- Summary
- The festive and memorable gala concert given by Gustavo Dudamel and Juan Diego Flórez at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2010 is back on medici.tv! Remember, it was three years ago. Gustavo Dudamel kick started the Los Angeles Philharmonic's musical season with his friend Juan Diego Flórez. medici.tv broadcast live this much-acclaimed concert. Thankfully this video is now part of the catalogue, and thus watchable again. The program is made up of opera excerpts, including some Gioachino Rossini's arias with which Flórez has conquered music lovers all over the world, and Latin American standards, a music which unites Gustavo Dudamel -- the Venezuelan superstar stemming from the El Sistema program -- and Juan Diego Flórez, the Peruvian tenor well-known worldwide. The frenzied rhythms of Latin American music get on wonderfully well with the joviality of Rossini's melodies. The cheerfulness of the musicians on stage was such that they gave two encores, two of the most famous arias for tenor, two arias with which Juan Diego Flórez triumphed on Major stages: "Ah! mes amis" (from La Fille du régiment) and "La donna è mobile" (from Rigoletto). The patent complicity between Dudamel and Flórez, the great acting skills of the singer and the virtuosity of the musicians gathered altogether gave to this concert a perfume of uniqueness and overwhelming joy. This memorable musical event ended up with a carnaval-like throwing of paper cotillons in the air, a festive grand finale which supports well the title given to this program, Celebración
